Education is king! A new study suggests state mandated sexual education classes in California’s public schools have helped curb teen pregnancies by 60%. The state’s rate now stands at 28 births for every 1,000 teenage girls — a 60 percent drop since 1991, when the rate peaked at 70.9 births for every 1,000 girls, according to a story by Tara Culp-Ressler.
Point is loud and clear: you need to be honest, direct, and “real” with kids if you want them to make good decisions about sex and more importantly their own sexual health and well-being. California law mandates public schools offer comprehensive sex ed classes with scientifically accurate information about birth control.
It doesn’t pay to ignore the fact that we are all sexual beings. Giving kids facts and making them aware of the pleasures and consequences leads to more responsible choices.
