Our Sexy Story:

It was early 2005 when I (Desiree) was sitting in a Property Law class. The professor was discussing zoning and ordinances. He made a comment that if you could find an adult zone in Massachusetts (good luck!), you’d be better off going into the adult enhancement business. At least you’d have some fun and no headaches. In 2007, after law school, I decided my professor was right! Sexy sounded good!!

While I was planning the next move I went to work with my mother, Doreen, in education. Ma spent her career assisting special education students. While she loved the kids, she did not enjoy the ongoing politics. So, when I told her we would be going into the adult sexuality enhancement business, she gave her notice, and we started planning this very sexy business.

2008 was the year of education. You could call it sexy education. We went to trade shows, sat in on several hours of sex industry seminars, and talked to anyone who was willing to discuss this sexy business with us. You can only imagine what we discovered. The sex industry is a multi-billion dollar business for a reason; no one will give you the time of day if you’re not an insider.

After the rigamarole of getting our feet wet in the industry, we finally attempted to find a building. I quickly discovered why my professor said those things with a smirk on his face. Either the town zones you out or the landlord doesn’t want anything to do with “your type of people”. Rejection after rejection, we decided to turn our sexy knowledge into a small home party business. Lugging sex toys to people homes was not ideal, because we had such a bigger and brighter goal, but we did it for a year.

In April 2010, I got a great birthday present. This crazy guy who owned an industrial building in the adult zone in Upton, MA was willing to talk. As soon as we met with him, it was a go. We took a couple months to clean up what once was a motor cycle shop. Airing out the smell of oil was essential for a new pretty sexy boutique to emerge.

We opened our doors at Desiree’s Desires, Inc. 9 Walker Drive, Upton, MA 01568 on August 1, 2010 to all our friends and family. On August 4, 2010 we opened our sexy doors to the public. It’s been quite a trip! We’re happy we took the risk to do something FUN! Thank you everyone who continues to visit us. It’s because of you, we’re looking forward to many more great years!
