So the media circus has ascended upon New York City and mayoral candidate, Anthony Weiner. He speaks out, the wife speaks out, but where’s the chick who is trying to bring down the politician? Doesn’t this 23 year old bear any responsibility for her actions? Instead of hearing directly from her, the media cycle brings out all these internet yahoos who claim to have talked with her. I don’t know about you, but I don’t listen to any of these people! Why didn’t she just reveal the information publicly on her own with Gloria Allred by her side?
Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t send random people pictures of my lady parts, but really who the hell am I to judge. I say this entire thing is between the Mr. and Mrs., and the people of New York can decide if they want Mr. Weiner to represent them. We’re all human beings with flaws, right? He didn’t commit an illegal act, and I’m not going to judge people’s morality – isn’t that what Pat Robertson is in charge of?
Weiner admits to his sexting exploits, the wife is the first of many political wives to actually address the scandal straight on. Mrs. Weiner is no dummy. In fact, she, like so many women in their relationships, is smarter and more savvy than he is. She knows politics, she claims to trust, respect, and forgive her husband, and she’s active on the campaign trail.
What people must realize is social media has been fully integrated into our daily lives and this has consequences on relationships. It’s been reported that Facebook has been linked to 66 percent of divorces in the U.S., with 81 percent of the nation’s top divorce lawyers claiming clients have cited using social networks as damning evidence against their spouses in the past five years (Third Age). The fact that you are on a computer and safe in your home does not negate what can happen when typing turns into sexual desire.
What’s your take on this?
